airBaltic carries over half a million passengers in July, sets two new records
Latvian national carrier airBaltic carried over half a million guests in July 2024, a 9% growth year-on-year, and set new passenger records at its bases in Estonia and Lithuania with increases of 14% and 24% respectively.
July’s performance marks the second consecutive month of passenger growth for the airline, which had already registered a 6% increase from the year prior. It also represents an all-high load factor for the airline (a record 88.8%), a 5.8 percentage point increase from July 2023.
“In July, airBaltic maintained strong operational performance, carrying a significant number of passengers and setting new records in our home markets – Estonia and Lithuania,” explained Pauls Cālītis, chief operations officer of airBaltic. With 92,000 and 80,000 passengers recorded for each country, “these are the highest passenger numbers ever recorded in July for both bases,” he added.
Cālītis attributes this further growth in part to airBaltic’s more than 20 new routes on offer this year, which – along with its 24 codeshare partners – continue to offer what he terms “the best connectivity between the Baltics and the rest of the world”. Six upcoming winter routes (four from Latvia’s Riga, one from Estonia’s Tallinn and one from Lithuania’s Vilnius) will also offer further options.
