Discover Airlines unveils new ‘Ocean Blue’ cabins for Airbus A330 fleet

Discover Airlines will retrofit all 16 of its Airbus A330-300s with a new "Ocean Blue" long-haul cabin from 2027—the largest interiors investment in its history.

Discover Airlines has revealed a completely redesigned long-haul cabin, branded “Ocean Blue,” as the Lufthansa Group leisure carrier prepares to refresh its onboard product across all travel classes.

The new cabin will be installed across all 16 Airbus A330-300 aircraft, marking the airline’s largest investment to date. The first aircraft featuring the Ocean Blue interior is expected to enter service from April 2027, with the remaining fleet to be retrofitted progressively through to mid-2028.

Discover Airlines gets a full cabin redesign, not just new seats

Unlike a seat-only refresh, Discover Airlines says Ocean Blue represents a complete rebuild of the customer-facing cabin environment.

This includes changes that extend well beyond seating, encompassing lighting, furnishings, and onboard equipment such as galleys and lavatories.

The goal is to deliver a cohesive, modern cabin aesthetic and passenger experience that fits the airline’s leisure-focused identity—raising the bar for premium travel on holiday routes while aligning with the high-end cabin design of other Lufthansa Group carriers.

“With this investment, we are setting new standards for long-haul leisure flying,” says Ulrich Lindner, CEO of Discover Airlines. “Five years after our founding, we are investing a nine-figure sum specifically in comfort, quality, and the travel experience of our guests.

“This is a clear commitment to the further development of Discover Airlines. We are proud of what we have achieved and look forward to welcoming our guests to the new Ocean Blue cabin soon.”

New A330 cabin layout: 288 seats across three classes

After refurbishment, each Discover Airlines Airbus A330 will feature a standardised three-class configuration with:

  • 30 Business Class seats
  • 31 Premium Economy seats
  • 227 Economy seats

That brings the total capacity to 288 seats per aircraft—a cabin that balances holiday-market density with a more premium long-haul offering.

Discover’s new business class: lie-flat seats, aisle access and upgraded tech

In business class, Ocean Blue offers a premium hard product with the cabin arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration that provides all-aisle access and each seat offering a fully flat bed.

The airline highlights modern features such as a 4K monitor, wireless charging, PC power, and both USB-A and USB-C charging ports, along with private storage spaces and adjustable privacy controls.

Business Class Suite: sliding doors and a 32” IFE screen

The most upgraded seat in the new cabin is Discover’s new Business Class Suite concept, positioned in the front row.

These suites will include sliding doors, a lie-flat surface over two metres long, and a large 32-inch 4K in-flight entertainment monitor, designed for customers seeking maximum privacy and a premium, exclusive experience.

Premium economy bridges the “premium gap” for leisure travellers

Premium Economy is also being upgraded as part of Ocean Blue, with Discover Airlines positioning it as a competitive differentiator in the leisure market.

In the airline’s view, the new Premium Economy should help it hold a “top product” among holiday-focused carriers, with seat design and comfort improvements intended to bridge the gap between economy and business on long-haul routes.

A refreshing economy class for long-haul leisure flights

The airline has also updated the economy cabin with comfort-optimised seats that offer “more legroom and a comfortable seat recline angle.”

A 6-way adjustable headrest will help passengers rest and increased storage allows passengers to keep personal items handy on long journeys. The airline also offers seats with exta legroom available for booking.

Discover’s new cabins get entertainment upgrades — plus Starlink WiFi

Ocean Blue will also roll out a broader in-flight experience refresh, including 4K touchscreens and free high-speed internet access via Starlink in all classes. The availability of Starlink WiFi is part of Lufthansa Group’s decision to implement Starlink LEO satellite connectivity across its global fleet to enhance the passenger experience.

The combination of a restful blue palette throughout all cabin touchpoints, enhanced seating and technology marks a significant passenger experience improvement that the airline’s leisure travellers will welcome.
