Dubai Airshow set for a historic first as eVTOLs join the flying programme

For many spectators, Dubai Airshow will be their first opportunity to see an eVTOL in flight.

Joby Aviation

The Dubai Airshow is set to break new ground this year as eVTOL aircraft join the flying display for the first time, signalling how far advanced air mobility (AAM) has come in moving from concept to real-world operations.

Running from 17 to 21 November 2025 at Dubai World Central (DWC), organisers say the show will be the largest in its history, featuring more than 1,500 exhibitors, 490 delegations, and over 200 aircraft across both static and flying displays.

Tim Hawes, Managing Director of Informa Markets, described the inclusion of eVTOLs as a “defining moment for the future of aviation,” adding that Dubai Airshow “goes beyond showcasing aircraft; it’s about demonstrating what’s possible when vision, technology and collaboration converge.”

Joby’s eVTOL confirmed for the flight line

Among the new arrivals will be Joby Aviation, which has been confirmed as the first and so far only eVTOL manufacturer to feature its aircraft on the flight line rather than inside the exhibition halls.

Joby has deep ties to the UAE, having delivered its first production aircraft to Dubai earlier this year ahead of a planned 2026 commercial air taxi launch. The company is working with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and Skyports Infrastructure to establish initial vertiport locations, as the city positions itself to be one of the world’s earliest adopters of eVTOL passenger services.

Its presence at the show is expected to be a major talking point for visitors eager to see the aircraft up close, representing one of the most advanced and certified-ready designs in the eVTOL sector.

More eVTOL participants expected

While organisers have yet to announce which eVTOLs will take part in the flying display, several leading AAM companies are known to be exhibiting at the event. Confirmed to be attending alongside Joby so far are Eve Air Mobility, Chinese startup WeFly, Korean eVTOL developer V-Space and Honda R&D.

Complementing the debut of eVTOLs in the flying display, this year’s show will also feature a dedicated Advanced Air Mobility Pavilion, designed as a hub for technology developers, infrastructure specialists, and regulators driving the sector forward. Companies with a presence in the AAM pavilion include Archer, Autocraft, Robo AI and Skyportz, among others.

The new pavilion will bring together leading players from across the AAM ecosystem, covering everything from vertiport design and power systems to air traffic integration and certification frameworks. It will also host panel sessions and demonstrations exploring how cities like Dubai are preparing for next-generation flight.

Whether Joby’s aircraft remains the only eVTOL visible on the flight line or becomes one of several entrants, Dubai Airshow 2025 looks set to showcase the clearest picture yet of how the urban air mobility revolution is shaping the skies.
