Honeywell and NXP partner on AI and autonomous flight
January 9, 2025
Honeywell and NXP Semiconductors have unveiled a partnership to advance autonomous flight and AI-driven aerospace technologies.
Building on their collaboration in energy-efficient building systems announced last year, the new initiative focuses on transforming aviation with next-generation avionics and computing solutions.
The partnership will integrate Honeywell’s aerospace expertise and its cloud-connected Honeywell Anthem cockpit system with NXP’s high-performance computing architecture.
Together, they aim to enhance flight planning and operational efficiency through AI, while accelerating transitions to advanced chipsets and avionics technologies.
Key developments include large-area displays for future cockpits, featuring ultra-thin, high-resolution screens designed to improve visibility and efficiency.
The collaboration will also streamline the migration to new avionics technologies, extending the lifecycle of systems to benefit aircraft manufacturers and operators alike.
“Our industrial domain expertise combined with NXP’s best-in-class technology is a powerful accelerator for industrial leaders on the path to autonomy,” said Vimal Kapur, chairman and CEO of Honeywell. “Working together, we are developing differentiated solutions and services that shape the future of automation, driving significant customer outcomes and fueling Honeywell’s growth.”
“Bringing avionics closer to autonomous flight requires a unique combination of high-performance processing and AI, advanced connectivity and security, and functional safety,” said Kurt Sievers, President and CEO, NXP Semiconductors. “NXP’s broad portfolio and systems solutions approach makes us a natural partner for Honeywell on the journey towards creating innovative, intelligent and autonomous avionics that can sense, think and act.”
