Deutsche Aircraft has announced a partnership with Weerts Group for the construction of its D328eco final assembly line, located in Leipzig Airport. The facility is set to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The pan-European logistics and real estate infrastructure developer will now take over construction of the ground field site, which the German OEM broke ground on in May 2023. With the frame conditions laid and the initial site prepared, the Weerts Group will also be responsible for the construction of the flight readiness hangar, logistics centre, and administration building alongside the final assembly line.

“Weerts Group is charmed by the confidence Deutsche Aircraft and Sierra Nevada Corporation have shown during negotiations and we are very happy to contribute to the realisation of this project,” explained CEO and president of Weerts Group Yven Weerts, who described the collaboration as “an absolute priority for our company”.

Construction of the final assembly line will create employment opportunities for around 250-300 workers in the Leipzig region, with a production capacity of 48 D328eco aircraft annually; allowing Deutsche Aircraft to “meet the growing demand for regional aircraft while maintaining the highest standards of quality”.

The OEM elaborated that the new line will adopt numerous incentives to enhance sustainability and efficiency, including 100% digital and paperless production solutions, automated parts and storage, and energy-efficient battery powered tools.

“Weerts Group brings a strong portfolio of experience as we construct the final assembly line for Deutsche Aircraft. This is testament to our dedication to the success of the D328eco programme and its pivotal role in the aviation chain of Europe and around the world,” concluded Deutsche Aircraft COO Nico Neumann.
