SITA, the global air transport technology company, has acquired Milan-based CCM, a leading specialist in airport interiors, in a move aimed at transforming the way airports function by integrating technology with intelligent design.

The acquisition comes as airports increasingly invest in automation, biometrics, and self-service technology, requiring terminal layouts to evolve alongside these innovations.

Traditional designs with static check-in counters and security areas are being replaced with smarter, more flexible spaces.

“This isn’t just about expanding airports,” said SITA CEO David Lavorel. “It’s about reimagining them.

“With CCM’s deep design and execution expertise, we’re transforming airports to maximise their existing footprint, optimise passenger flow, and create smarter, more flexible and valuable airport terminal environments that evolve with the changing needs of the industry.”

Sergio Colella, SITA’s President for Europe, said: “The market needs a fundamental shift –where technology and design work together to make airports smarter in using their space for more capacity and with flexibility to support the next generation of travel. That’s why we’re bringing CCM into the SITA family.”

Monica Oberti, a member of CCM’s founding Marinoni family, has been appointed interim CEO. “For too long, airports have had to choose between efficiency and passenger experience. Now, they don’t have to,” she said.
