Paris Air Show day 1 roundup: Airbus racks up the orders

The 55th edition of the Paris Air Show has kicked off in Le Bourget.
Despite the dark cloud of the tragic Air India crash and ongoing geopolitical tensions, the sun shone brightly as thousands of delegates poured through the gates, eager to explore the halls and static display.
The morning began with an opening ceremony for politicians and dignitaries, which included a flypast by the Patrouille de France and an incredible display from the A350-1000 and Dassault’s Falcon 6X.
As the day wore on, announcements and updates began to pour in. Here are the highlights of day 1 at the Paris Air Show.
Airbus snags first official order of the show with AviLease deal
Airbus has agreed a deal for up to 77 A350Fs and A320s with Saudi Arabia-based aircraft leasing company AviLease.
Airbus scores again with second order of the day, this time from Riyadh Air
Following its first order of the show this morning, there was no lunchtime lull for French manufacturer Airbus as it announced an order for up to 50 A350-1000s from new Saudi carrier, Riyadh Air.

And it’s a hat trick for Airbus as ANA signs up for A321neos, including A321XLR for Peach
All Nippon Airways (ANA) Holdings has secured a purchase agreement with Airbus for 27 A321neos and A321XLRs. The deal marks the French manufacturer’s third order on day one of Paris Air Show 2025.
The order covers 14 A321neos for ANA’s fleet, while 10 of this aircraft type as well as the three A321XLRs will be allocated to low-cost Japanese carrier Peach, which is part of ANA Holdings. Deliveries are expected in 2030.
Airbus seals the deal on first ever agreement with LOT Polish Airlines
Airbus’ fourth and final order of the day saw the French manufacturer secure its first ever agreement with LOT Polish Airlines. The flag-carrying airline placed an order for 40 A220s, including 20 of the smaller A220-100 variants and 20 of the larger A220-300s.
Embraer sells another C-390 to Portugal
Embraer has announced another order for the C-390 from Portugal. Included in the order are options for 10 more of the type, which could go to Portugal or to another NATO member state.
CAE releases its Aviation Talent Forecast
Training company CAE unveiled its 2025 aviation talent forecast on day 1 of Paris Air Show. Its 2025 report estimates that 1.5 million new civil aviation workers will be required over the next decade.
Growing air travel demand and widespread retirements are said to be accelerating the need for training and recruiting new entrants across nearly every job category.
Wisk partners with Miami-Dade to bring air taxis to the county
Wisk signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) and with the University of Miami’s Engineering Autonomy Mobility Initiative (MEAMI).
The MOUs are focussed on planning, infrastructure development and policy pathways to enable commercialisation of autonomous advanced air mobility (AAM) in the county and at MDAD airports.
Deutsche Aircraft deepens its partnership with Garmin
On the eve of this year’s air show, Deutsche Aircraft officially announced the integration of Garmin’s latest-generation G5000 Prime Flight Deck into the D328eco turboprop.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of the unveiling of Deutsche Aircraft’s D328eco test aircraft, TAC 1, at the end of May. The next-generation 40-seater regional turboprop is slated to enter service in Q4 2027.
VoltAero reveals final configuration for Cassio 330 hybrid-electric aircraft
As exhibitors made the final finishing touches to their stands for this year’s Paris Air Show on Sunday afternoon, French developer, VoltAero, showcased the latest production configuration of its five-seat Cassio 330 hybrid-electric aircraft.
In addition the twin-booms and high-set horizontal tail featured in the original design have been replaced with a more conventional T-tail.
Wisk announces partnership with Japanese city and Japan Airlines
Wisk has signed a memorandum of understanding with the City of Kaga, Ishikawa, Japan, and with Japan Airlines’ JAL Engineering Co (JALEC) to take forward advanced aerial mobility (AAM) in the city.
The partnership is focussed on enabling autonomous air taxi operations in Kaga City, and more widely in Japan.
