Kalitta Air codeshares with JAL to enhance cargo operation

March 20, 2025

Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced a new codeshare agreement with US-based cargo carrier Kalitta Air to enhance its air freight services between Asia and North America.
Starting on 10 May 2025, the collaboration will see the two airlines operate regular cargo flights on the Narita-Chicago route.
The move follows JAL’s return to dedicated freighter operations in February 2024 after a 13-year hiatus.
With air cargo demand remaining strong, particularly between Asia and North America, the partnership with Kalitta Air will provide JAL with additional capacity using large cargo aircraft.
Further strengthening its transpacific network, JAL will also launch a passenger flight on the Narita-Chicago route from 31 May 2025.
This addition aims to increase capacity for both passengers and cargo, which can sit in the belly of the aircraft.
