Embraer is seeking to widen the customer base for its latest generation aircraft to the Balkans as it shows off the E195-E2 in Belgrade, Serbia.

The single-aisle regional jet, which has struggled to find buyers, was presented to representatives from Air Serbia and the Serbian government this week.

The E2 would be an ideal replacement for the A319, which makes up the bulk of Air Serbia’s fleet.

Air Serbia intends to modernise and expand its fleet, and the Balkan state’s national carrier recently added two 16-year-old Embraer ERJ-195 aircraft to its fleet.

“Air Serbia’s network is continually expanding, and so is our fleet. We will soon introduce two Embraer E195 aircraft, each seating 118 passengers, perfectly aligned with our plans for growth,” said Boško Rupić, general manager of commercial and strategy at Air Serbia..

“We have worked closely with Embraer to identify the aircraft that best meets our needs. Today, we had the privilege of learning about the new E195-E2 at our home airport, and we appreciate this opportunity from Embraer.”

Fernando Mainardi, VP of sales Europe at Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted the advantages of the E195-E2 during the demonstration flight, emphasising its operational efficiency, low maintenance costs, and adaptability.

“Our aircraft is 10% lighter and consumes 12.5% less fuel than its competitors,” he said. “Passengers will benefit from our signature two-plus-two seating arrangement—eliminating middle seats—along with larger overhead bins, mood lighting, and a quieter cabin. We are enthusiastic about the potential the E2 holds for Air Serbia as it continues to expand its regional presence.”

Additionally, Mainardi noted that transitioning aircrew from the E195-E1 to the E195-E2 is straightforward and cost-effective. Pilots require just two and a half days of additional training to operate the E2, minimising training expenses and ensuring a smooth integration into the airline’s operations.
