The US Transportation Secretary has called for Boeing’s CEO to urgently appear in Washington DC, to explain how the company is tackling its ongoing quality and safety issues.

Amid growing scrutiny over the aerospace giant’s manufacturing standards, the government official has also announced plans to visit Boeing facilities personally to assess whether the firm is implementing the necessary measures to uphold the highest safety standards.

The move follows a series of incidents that have raised questions about Boeing’s safety protocols, prompting regulatory concerns in the US and globally.

The visit is expected to provide a clearer picture of the company’s efforts to restore confidence in its aircraft production.

Duffy wrote on X: “I’ve requested that the Boeing CEO come to D.C. as soon as possible to provide a full accounting of the steps the company is taking to address its quality and safety issues.

“Following that, I will visit Boeing myself to evaluate firsthand the measures being implemented to ensure its planes meet the highest safety standards.”
