AIR partners with EDAG to accelerate eVTOL production

June 4, 2025

Electric aircraft manufacturer AIR has partnered with global automotive engineering firm EDAG Group to build the main structural components of its AIR ONE aircraft.
The collaboration marks a milestone for the Israeli startup as it prepares to enter scaled production, with the first batch of structures already delivered and aircraft now undergoing assembly ahead of scheduled deliveries later this year.
The AIR ONE is a midsize electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, designed for both piloted and uncrewed operations.
It is intended to serve not only private owners but also commercial and logistics users.
Its updated design includes several practical enhancements: a folding wing system, retractable motor arms for easier storage and transport, and a larger cabin space for improved passenger comfort and operational flexibility.
The aircraft’s new frame, built primarily from aluminium for a favourable strength-to-weight ratio, supports both the piloted variant and AIR’s unmanned cargo version.
The structure offers a 70-cubic-foot cargo bay, making it suitable for transporting everything from stretchers to pallets, enabling use in emergency response, urban logistics, and industrial operations.
“Partnering with an industry trailblazer like EDAG – who has worked with some of the world’s most recognizable brands is a testament to our vision of bringing the automotive world into aviation and enabling the efficient production of dependable eVTOL aircraft,” said Rani Plaut, CEO and co-founder of AIR.
“With EDAG’s expertise in vehicle development, design, and production, we are taking a critical step toward bringing advanced air mobility to the masses. This partnership paves the way for streamlined, scalable production of AIR ONE, enabling faster delivery to meet the growing demand from consumers and enterprises for accessible air transportation.”
“Collaborating with AIR on the AIR ONE is a significant step forward in our work within the eVTOL sector,” said Harald Keller, CEO at EDAG. “Our goal has always been to create efficient, high-performance designs, and this project is no exception. The AIR ONE’s main structure, with its innovative features like the folding wing and spacious cabin, reflects our dedication to delivering scalable solutions that meet diverse needs. This partnership supports AIR in delivering advanced air mobility with the reliability and precision that the industry demands and that EDAG is known for.”
