Edelweiss has unveiled the new cabins for its Airbus A350 fleet, featuring business-class suites with doors, and redesigned premium economy and economy cabins.

Edelweiss has revealed its new Airbus A350 cabins, promising more space, more privacy and a noticeably more premium experience across every class.

At the heart of the redesign is Europe’s first airline installation of Thompson Aero Seatings A350-optimised VantageXL+, alongside upgraded premium economy and a refreshed economy cabin, aiming to provide greater comfort for the airline’s long-haul leisure travellers from the front to the back of the aircraft.

The first aircraft is due to enter service in December 2026, with the new interior rolled out across the airline’s A350 fleet next year.

Edelweiss’ new Airbus A350 cabins offer “more space to feel good”

In its unveiling, Edelweiss said the updated Airbus A350 interior was designed around a single guiding principle: “more space to feel good.”

The airline says the new cabin was crafted from the ground up to improve passenger wellbeing, using lighter colours, soothing materials and a consistent, calming design language from business class through to economy.

The A350’s quieter cabin and larger windows play into that strategy, helping the interior feel more open and less fatiguing on long sectors.

“With the new Airbus A350, we seized the opportunity to rethink our entire cabin product and develop it consistently with our guests’ well-being in mind,” said Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss. “Our aim was to create a space that exudes tranquillity, is of high quality, and clearly positions itself as a premium product. The new cabin is a logical evolution of our design and represents modern comfort, Swiss quality, and a contemporary long-haul holiday flight experience.”

The headline upgrade is business class. Edelweiss will become the first European carrier to introduce Thompson Aero Seating’s VantageXL+, a new evolution of the popular VantageXL seat, specifically optimised for the Airbus A350 fuselage. It is a significant step up in design compared to its original Airbus A350 interiors.

According to Thompson, the A350-specific changes include:

  • Expanded footwells and re-sculpted internal walls for increased legroom and knee clearance
  • Refined the suite’s top rails to enhance personal living space
  • Improved IFE positioning, increasing viewing distance for a more immersive experience

Each Airbus A350 aircraft will now feature 32 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, giving every passenger direct aisle access.

Front-row upgrade: the Edelweiss (first class) Business Suite

At the very front of the cabin, Edelweiss is going a step further, blending business and first class, with four seats sold as the Edelweiss Business Suite. These suites offer more privacy and other in-flight comforts while maintaining an all-business-class cabin density.

Edelweiss’ business suites feature:

  • Closable doors for added privacy
  • Large 32-inch monitors for a cinema-style IFE experience
  • Extra personal space compared with standard business-class seats
  • Memory foam pillow and comforting bedding

Centre suites include a divider that can be adjusted individually, allowing the space to be shared by passengers travelling together.

Edelweiss A350 business class: Lighter privacy and fully flat beds

Behind the suites, the remaining 28 ‘Edelweiss Business’ seats use the same VantageXL+ platform, but with a lighter privacy solution.

Instead of doors, these seats feature an aisle-side privacy shield, while still offering:

  • Fully flat beds
  • 100% direct aisle access
  • Generous work and relaxation surfaces
  • Multiple personal stowage options
  • 17.3-inch IFE screens

Edelweiss has customised the colours, trim and finishes to reflect its brand identity, in soothing tones of beige and blue that play well with the additional natural light afforded by the A350’s larger windows.

Thompson Aero Seating delivers “a living product” for a new Edelweiss business class

Andy Morris, Chief Commercial Officer at Thompson Aero Seating, said the VantageXL+ reflects the company’s approach to continuously refining a successful product rather than pursuing clean-sheet redesigns.

“Every VantageXL suite delivers an outstanding passenger experience through a wide range of amenities, stowages, and the ability to integrate the latest in IFE equipment, all carefully designed to provide incredible levels of comfort,” Morris said. “The VantageXL+ represents another step forward in TAS’s commitment to refine and enhance a living product to meet evolving customer requirements.”

Premium economy: A clear step up

Edelweiss is also upgrading premium economy, positioning it as a meaningful middle ground between business and standard economy on long-haul routes.

The cabin focuses on:

  • More legroom than economy
  • Wider seats and improved ergonomics
  • Distinct styling to clearly separate the experience from the main cabin

The airline’s premium economy is ideal for the airline’s leisure travellers who want a noticeably more comfortable option that is also more affordable than business class.

Economy: Redesigned for long-haul comfort

Even in the economy cabin, Edelweiss says the A350 cabin is designed to feel lighter and less dense than before.

Key elements include:

  • Updated seat design aimed at improving comfort on longer flights
  • A brighter colour palette to avoid a closed-in feel
  • Improved lighting and materials to support rest and reduce fatigue

Combined with the A350’s quieter cabin environment, the airline believes these changes will make a tangible difference on long-haul leisure routes.

Technology enhancements complete the A350 update

In addition to the new cabin hard product introductions, Edelweiss has made soft product technology changes that will offer passengers greater opportunities to rest, work, or play.

In all travel classes, passengers can access:

  • Free Starlink high-speed WiFi.
  • 4K screens with Bluetooth audio connectivity, and
  • The in-flight entertainment system’s content catalogue includes over 400 films and series, a 3D flight map, and external camera feeds.
  • Human-centric lighting in the cabin supports the natural circadian rhythm, helping passengers rest better on long-haul flights.
  • High-performance USB-C and USB-A ports at all seats with up to 60 watts of power.

The airline also offers wireless charging in Edelweiss Premium Economy, Edelweiss Business, and Edelweiss Business Suite, along with additional power outlets available in Edelweiss Business and Edelweiss Business Suite. The airline will provide noise-cancelling headphones to passengers in Edelweiss Premium Economy, Edelweiss Business, and Edelweiss Business Suite.

All Edelweiss A350s will be updated by 2027

The airline stated that the first aircraft with the new cabin will enter service in December 2026, with flights bookable this summer. Further converted Airbus A350s will enter service gradually in January, February, April, May, and July 2027. Edelweiss plans to equip its entire Airbus A350 fleet with the new cabin by summer 2027.

With the A350 interior, Edelweiss is raising the bar on comfort across all cabins, narrowing the gap with full-service network carriers while keeping its leisure-focused DNA.

Edelweiss’ Airbus A350 cabins are shaping up to be among the most premium leisure-airline interiors in Europe—blending a more thoughtful business class suite, premium economy and economy experience under a single, cohesive design philosophy.
