“A mix of a wing, an airship and a bit of helicopter thrown in…An entirely new way of flying” is how Chris Daniels, Head of Partnerships & Communication, described the Airlander aircraft. He explained how big it is (clue: it’s really big) and its three key uses.

In August last year on its second test flight, Airlander had a well-publicised heavy landing. Daniels says:

“We’ve repaired all that and we’ve changed a lot of processes and procedures and looked internally at what we could do better to make sure that never happens again. We’ve done two further test flights…we’ll continue pushing the envelope.”

By the end of 2017, we’ll be flying all over the UK and possibly Europe, and doing customer trials.
