Paris Air Show: Starlux wraps day three with an order for 10 Airbus A350-1000s

June 18, 2025

In what is expected to be Airbus’ last order of the show, Taiwanese carrier Starlux has placed a firm order for 10 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

A relative newcomer, the airline started operating five years ago in 2020. It operates an all-Airbus fleet and first partnered with the French manufacturer in 2019. The fleet is currently comprised of 28 aircraft including the A350-900, the A330neo and the A321neo. Starlux currently has 30 aircraft on order including the A350F freighters and A350-1000, “the first of which is due to be delivered before the end of the year,” advised Benoit de Saint-Exupery.
Celiveries of the 10 A350-1000s ordered today are expected to be made from 2030.
He noted that Starlux’ decision to add more A350-1000s to its growing fleet “reaffirms the aircraft’s standing as the benchmark for long-haul operations.”
Glenn Chai, Starlux’s CEO aded that as the airline looks to expand its long-haul network, the new aircraft will be instrumental in meeting that demand. “As we continue to expand our international network, the A350-1000,” which will be distributed across the airline’s transpacific routes, “will play an important role in driving growth, sustainability and operational flexibility.”
The addition of today’s order brings its fleet of the aircraft type up to 18. “It is the perfect match for our long-haul strategy, offering outstanding efficiency, extended range and exceptional passenger comfort,” said Chai.
The airline announced in May that it will be launching its fifth US destination next year, when it will begin flying between Taipei and Phoenix. Chai also noted Starlux is seeing growing demand for travel to Japan.
The Taiwanese carrier also unveiled a brand new carbon fibre livery, designed exclusively for the A350-1000 and to complement the airline’s unique cabin interior.
