Spirit Airlines renews long-term MRO agreement with Safran

Safran Landing Systems has extended its agreement with Spirit Airlines for the supply and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of wheels and carbon brakes for the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet.

Manufacturing will be carried out by Safran Landing Systems plant in Walton (Kentucky) with the contract including comprehensive and responsive maintenance services through Safran Landing Systems Wheels & Brakes Services network in Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Texas and Nevada.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the two companies building on their existing 20-year partnership, Jean-Michel Hillion, EVP of the wheels and brakes division at Safran Landing Systems, said: “This marks a significant milestone in our common journey based on mutual trust as well as shared values for safety, performance, reliability and reducing the impact of air transport on the environment.”

With its brake designed for the A320 family, Safran Landing Systems equips more than 70% (5,100 aircraft) of the A320-family fleet worldwide. “Their cutting-edge technology in wheels and brakes are pivotal contributors to our operational performance and safety standards,” Boris Rogoff, SVP of Tech Ops and Supply Chain at Spirit Airlines, concluded.
