France and Belgium explore refuelling interoperability

France’s DGA (the Direction Générale de l'Armement) has conducted in-flight refuelling tests between an A330 MRTT of the Armée de l’Air et de l’Espace and an F-16BM of the Belgian Air Force.

The DGA test campaign aimed to validate the interoperability between the two aircraft types, and in particular check that the distance between the refuelling boom of the MRTT and receptacle on the spine of the F-16BM met the conditions necessary for safe refuelling

The six hour test flight was carried out by the teams from the DGA Flight Test team and the  DGAEV flight test centre, with the Belgian Air Force (also known as the Belgian Air Component or Belgische Luchtmacht/Force Aérienne Belge) providing and crewing the F-16.

Some 15 refuelling contacts were made, and 7 tonnes of fuel were transferred to the F-16BM.
