Airport Economic Zone to drive growth in Gatwick region

Regional business leaders and local authorities convened at London Gatwick’s Economic Summit to explore opportunities for economic expansion through the planned Airport Economic Zone (AEZ).
Set to launch next month, the AEZ will unite senior economic and business leaders, including representatives from the Department for Business and Trade, across six local authority areas.
Gatwick, already a key economic driver with 76,500 jobs and a £5.5 billion annual contribution, aims to further boost trade, tourism, and global investment through the initiative.
The airport’s £2.2 billion Northern Runway project, awaiting government approval, could create 14,000 jobs and add £1 billion annually to the economy.
Complementing this are plans for a £20 million Employment, Skills, and Business Strategy to support the AEZ’s objectives.

“We know there is potential for the airport to deliver further benefits in the future and look forward to playing an active role in the Taskforce on behalf of our businesses and communities.”
