When they look out of airplane windows, people often wonder what that little “sticky-up bit” on the end of the wing is for. That’s the winglet, and through smart design it can increase range, decrease fuel use and even give a plane a brand new look.
Aviation Partners Inc. is one of the leading companies in the design and production of advanced winglet systems. We talked to Joe Clark, the company’s chairman and CEO, about the latest innovation in winglets, including the ‘split scimitar’ system, as well as what’s next – Aviation Partners Inc. is already working on a new style of winglet that could change the shape of aircraft wings for the next generation.
