A sustainable future for the aerospace and defence industries will be one of the key topics for discussion during FIA Connect.

Registration for the event – from July 13-15 2021 – is open now. FIA Connect is the world’s only major digital trade event for the aerospace and defence industries. The free-to-attend online event marks the second in a series developed by Farnborough International to bridge the gap between biennial Farnborough International Airshows – the next of which has been confirmed to take place in July 2022.

The event will host an expert line up of speakers from leaders across industry, government and academia including representatives from KPMG, IATA, Rolls-Royce, Deloitte, Microsoft, RAF, Ministry of Defence, and many more.

Propulsion and decarbonisation on the agenda

Day One of the agenda will explore sustainability within defence including a session  on Defence – ‘Being a Fast Follower’ – Learning from the private sector to enable a sustainable future.”

Day Two will look at sustainability within the civil and commercial markets. Following the opening remarks, discussions will open at 10am with a session on the changing landscape of air transport after the Covid pandemic in a session titled “The roadmap to returning to the skies – the future of air travel.”

How to power aircraft to create lower emissions, while maintaining and improving the benefits of air transportation is next on the agenda at 11.30am in “Sustainability: engineering the propulsion of the future.”

At 3.30pm our panel will be discussing a key question for the industry in “Decarbonising Aviation – Is it as hard as we think?

FIA Connect 2021 brings together three days of insight, debate and discussion from thoughtleaders and innovators from across industry, the government and academia, as well as facilitating business connections. The event will be broadcast by FINN – the Farnborough International News Network.
