Frank Schirrmeister, Cadence Design Systems, shares how aerospace companies can use emulation and intelligent design to get better products to market faster and more cost-effectively.

Schirrmeister said one of the key taglines of Cadence Design Systems, a multinational electronic design automation software and engineering services company, is “emulate before you fabricate”.

He said aerospace’s typical design cycle has been to “build it, fly it, fix it and build it again”.

Schirrmeister said: “One of the big aspects of intelligent system design is to do this continuous integration of the system – hardware, software, but even the electromechanical effects and so forth – much earlier so that gives you a much earlier integration point. And it significantly reduces the time to market.”

He added: “By basically bring these things together much earlier on, you shift the whole process.”
