Vietnam Airlines joins IATA’s CO2 Connect

Vietnam Airlines has become the inaugural Vietnamese airline to participate in the International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s CO2 connect programme, an emissions calculator developed with real airline data.

The CO2 Connect platform enables a carrier to substitute “generic industry data with values reflecting [its] own performance,” explains  IATA, with the platform also able to calculate passenger carbon footprints using the industry-approved RP1726 methodology.

Vietnam Airlines’ further commitment to its sustainability goals comes a fortnight after the airline first used a blend of sustainable aviation fuel on its Singapore to Hanoi route, becoming the first Vietnamese airline to use SAF for commercial passenger flights.
