Urban-Air Port and Drone Evolution join forces on UAV operations

May 22, 2025

A recent agreement between advanced UAV launch infrastructure specialist Urban-Air Port (UAP) and UK-based start-up Drone Evolution will enhance defence capabilities for modern warfare.
Uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become integral to modern warfare, offering surveillance, precisions strikes and reduced risk to personnel. One key challenge to their utilisation however is the need for reliable, mobile launch infrastructure that can be easily deployed and operated in harsh environments.

Urban-Air Port’s DBx-A1 – UAV Launch & Logistics Defence-Tech Compatible with all Standard Palletised Load Systems.
Logistics and launch system
The partnership between UAP and Drone Evolution introduces the DBx-A1, a UAV logistics and launch system built for the fast, secure and scalable deployment of mission-critical drones in high-threat environments. Supporting both reusable and one-way strike UAVs the system combines launch, charging, maintenance, repair and mission-control in a single mobile platform, thereby reducing personnel risk and increasing operational efficiency. The agnostic platform is scalable and can support a wide array of UAVs and is compatible with any standard Palletised Load System.
Drone Evolution’s product range includes first person view (FPV) UAVs under the SIMITAR banner and RUNNER, an autonomous last-mile resupply drone carrying payloads of 5kg over 20km or 1kg over 60km, as well as SENTINEL, a tethered quadcopter for Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Surveillance (ISR).
Rapid, repeatable launch capabilities
Underlining the proliferation of UAVS in modern warfare, Angus Benson-Blair, former British Army Major and now a board advisor at UAP said: “Mass UAV deployment in high-treat environments is logistically complex and exposes war fighters to risk.”
While current logistics struggle to scale UAV operations, leading to delays and vulnerabilities, UAP’s DBx-A1 offers a mobile, integrated platform that “delivers secure, rapid and repeatable launch capabilities, ensuring mission success in dynamic battlespaces,” continued Benson-Blair.
Toby Townrow, founder and business development director at Drone Evolution added, the collaboration with UAP “streamlines autonomous and FPV UAV deployment, reducing risk and enhancing operational efficiency. By integrating our SCIMITAR and RUNNER systems with the DBx-A1, we’re delivering cutting-edge solutions that strengthen global security, consistent with our mission to secure the supply chain for UAVs by building and manufacturing in the UK.”
