Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has begun training its pilots for the Airbus A350, with the first pilots set to be trained starting in February 2025.

The training will take place at Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland’s facility in Opfikon, near Zurich Airport, where a new full-flight simulator has been installed.

The airline is set to receive the first of its 10 new Airbus A350-900 aircraft this summer, which will replace its current fleet of Airbus A340-300s.

These twinjets will bring significant improvements in fuel efficiency and are part of SWISS’s ongoing fleet renewal programme.

SWISS plans to train over 50 pilots in 2025 alone as it prepares for the A350’s entry into revenue service.

The airline’s first A350 is currently being assembled at Airbus’s factory in Toulouse, with the aircraft expected to begin commercial flights in the summer.
