Siemens agrees to sell airports logistics division to Vanderlande

Vanderlande, which specialises in logistic process automation for airports, has acquired baggage and cargo handling company Siemens Logistics in a deal reported to be worth €300 million.

Vanderlande, which specialises in logistic process automation for airports, has acquired baggage and cargo handling company Siemens Logistics in a deal reported to be worth €300 million.

With Siemens Logistics also specialising in transformational digital solutions to futureproof airports, the proposed transaction will help enhance value for Vanderlande‘s customers by providing accelerated access to advanced technologies. Andrew Manship, Vanderlande’s president and CEO stated that, “Siemens Logistics’ innovative approach and robust business model align perfectly with Vanderlande’s vision for the future.”

He added that Siemens’ “forward-thinking and innovative mindset also proves its ability to adapt to changing market dynamics.”

With demand for automated systems within the aviation sector increasing, the deal, which is expected to close during 2025, will enable Vanderlande to provide a broader range of solutions and services.

Revealing that Siemens Logistics enjoys a “first-class reputation in the baggage and air-cargo handling areas,” the company’s CEO Michael Schneider, added that “together with Vanderlande and our committed global teams, we look forward to bringing fresh impetus to the airport industry and to supporting our customers’ business with future-oriented technologies.”

A future joint set up between the two companies will offer customers as well as staff “significant development and value-add potential,” concluded Schneider.
