Ontario, Canada brings 16 delegates to FIA 2024

Made-In-Ontario innovations represent the province on a global stage.

Sixteen companies from Ontario, Canada, supported by the provincial government, are at this year’s Farnborough International Airshow (FIA). They represent the province and a range of technologies and services, spanning advanced manufacturing, avionics, business jets, composite manufacturing, and MRO.

Magellan Aerospace provides assembly and parts for engines and maintenance, repair, and overhaul. They specialise in complex assemblies and systems solutions for aircraft and engine manufacturers, as well as defence and space agencies worldwide. Operational facilities are located throughout North America, Europe (including the UK), and India.

Gastops Ltd. offers condition monitoring solutions used in aerospace, defence, energy and industrial applications to optimize critical asset availability, performance, and safety. They provide online monitoring sensors, at-line analysis, complex modelling and simulation, world-class laboratory testing, engineering, design, and MRO, including engine sensor delivery for the F-35 Lighting II.

SHIMCO is a manufacturer of high-precision standard and custom aerospace-grade shims, shim materials, machined parts and metal surface treatments for OEM, tier-one, and MRO aerospace and defence markets. Its in-house processes include metal surface treatments, passivation, conversion coating (Alodine), sulphuric chromic and tartaric acid anodizing, priming, painting and full onsite lab services.

Firan Technology Group Corporation offers design, development, and manufacturing solutions for aerospace and defence electronic products and subsystems. Ian Maknyik, director business development, shared the importance of presenting at Farnborough International Airshow: “The global exposure, especially here, is huge for our line of work, not only as a proud Canadian company, but [one] with a global footprint that can satisfy both commercial and military services.”

The Ontario Aerospace Council comprises about 200 member companies, representing more than 70% of the Ontario aerospace industry employment base, including some of those at the pavilion. Further information about Ontario-based aerospace companies can be directed to CEO Natasha Gagnon.

Additional companies present at FIA 2024 are Downsview Aerospace Innovation and Research, Enghouse Systems Limited, Handling Specialty, JPOM, KOSS Aerospace, Malleum, ADS Aero Support Corporation, RAMPF Composite Solutions Inc., Shimifrez Inc., VAC AERO International Inc., and Velatron Technologies.
