MAG Aerospace and L3 Harris Technologies have been awarded a contract by the US Army to deliver two enhanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft.
The ISR system will be integrated on Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft and will support the army’s Theater-Level, High-Altitude Expeditionary Next Airborne ISR-Radar (ATHENA-R) program. The system will enable the aircraft to operate at high altitude, providing greater survivability and line-of-sight and helping the army meet global intelligence requirements.

The ATHENA-R program is designed to close the gap between the army’s medium and high-altitude ISR aircraft fleet, providing greater endurance, more payload capacity, longer standoff ranges and leading-edge sensor technology in support of US combatant commands.
Alongside the ATHENA-R program, L3 Harris also supports the US Army’s Airborne Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare aircraft (ARES) ISR mission and was awarded a contract in September 2022 to develop Phase 2 of the Army’s Multi-Domain Sensing System program.
