A global provider of mission-critical aviation services, FAI Aviation Group achieved revenues of €130 million in 2024, maintaining a steady performance from the previous year. As the company looks ahead, it is accelerating its fleet renewal programme over the next 24 months.

Fleet expansion

As part of its fleet upgrades, FAI has already added a second Learjet 60XR to its16-strong fleet of Bombardier aircraft, replacing one of its four legacy Learjet 60s. Over the next two years the company aims to phase out all remaining Learjet 60s in favour of the XR-model.

Additionally, FAI is evaluating the Bombardier Challenger 605 and Global 6000 aircraft to replace its existing six legacy Bombardier Challenger 604 and five Global Express BD 700 aircraft, respectively.

End of the line for Berlin MRO

While FAI ploughs ahead with its fleet renewal, FAI Technik, the group’s MRO division, has announced the closure of its Berlin maintenance base at Willy Brandt Berlin Brandenburg Airport at the end of March, 2025. The decision follows unsuccessful negotations with the airport operator over acquiring lease land to develop a state-of-the-art hangar facility.

“The existing structure, which dates back to post Second World War times, no longer met our expectations, nor those of our customers,” said FAI’s founder and group chairman, Siegfried Axtmann. “This, along with the airport’s requirement for a long-term lease agreement and a significant increase in lease fees, made continuing at BER untenable.”

FAI Technik’s non Berlin-based clients, which account for more than 95% of the Berlin MRO’s revenue, will now be serviced from the company’s Nuremberg headquarters where staffing will be increased accordingly. The Nuremburg MRO facility currently employs around 80 people.
