Evia Aero orders 10 all-electric MD Aircraft MDA1s

The order of 10 all-electric regional aircraft aligns with both German companies' sustainability incentives.

Sustainable regional air transport network developer Evia Air is to purchase 10 MDA1 all-electric aircraft from MD Aircraft for its future operations, with delivery scheduled from 2029.

Bremmen-based Evia Aero states it is “currently building an airline that operates exclusively CO2-free and is working with airports to provide the necessary infrastructure on the ground”. Its choice of the 10-passenger MDA1 fits the company’s sustainability vision (described by managing director Florian Kruse) of only using CO2-free aircraft in its fleet.

Explaining how regional aviation will “develop strongly worldwide in the future,” Kruse added that “sustainability is a major issue for business travellers in particular. Together with MD Aircraft, we have a solution here,” he concluded.

“The strategic partnership with Evia Aero is a logical consequence of our identical objectives and the start of joint market development,” stated Gregor Müller, CEO at Friedeburg-based MD aircraft. The manufacturer is aiming to launch its high-wing, twin-engine, all-electric MDA1 by 2029, which features a fully exchangeable battery system. Its range is expected to be around 400km.
