Embraer to invest in new Texas MRO facilities
Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has revealed plans to expand its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) network in the United States with the opening of a new service centre at Perot Field Alliance Airport in Fort Worth, Texas.
The move is intended to support the growing number of E-Jet aircraft operating across North America.
Working alongside local partners, including the City of Fort Worth, Denton County, and the State of Texas, Embraer aims to begin operations at the new facility by early 2025, utilising an existing hangar.
Construction of an additional hangar is expected to be completed by 2027. Once both are operational, the company’s ability to service the US E-Jet fleet will see a “considerable increase”.
Texas is rapidly emerging as a key hub for the aerospace industry, with major investments from both established companies and startups.
The state’s strategic location and skilled workforce have attracted aerospace giants like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Embraer, along with a growing number of space exploration companies such as SpaceX and Blue Origin.
Texas offers a strong infrastructure for research, development, and manufacturing, particularly in cities like Houston, home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, and Fort Worth.
“This expansion will significantly increase the capacity, capability, and footprint of our services network by providing world-class support to our customers and the growing fleet of E-Jets in North America. Also, it is part of Embraer’s growth strategy in the US,” said Carlos Naufel, president and CEO of Embraer Services & Support.
The Fort Worth location will become part of Embraer’s global MRO network, which currently includes 80 authorised service centres and 12 company-owned facilities. The proposed project is still subject to final approval from local government authorities, who are reviewing a set of proposed incentives to facilitate the development.
