Paris Air Show: Embraer gets a launch operator for the E-Freighter

As well as securing a launch operator, Embraer also secured a commitment for more of the type from the lessor.

Bridges Air Cargo launch operator of E190F

Embraer has booked a launch operator for its E-Freighter conversion of its popular E-Jets.

Bridges Air Cargo, part of Bridges Worldwide, will take delivery of the world’s first E190F passenger-to-freight conversion via lessor Regional One.

“I couldn’t be more delighted that Regional One secured the lease to Bridges for this launch,” said Martin Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer at Embraer. “So watch this space, and you’ll be seeing this aircraft in the air in the not too distant future.”

Bridges Air Cargo is a leading provider of services to the international logistics community, partnering with companies including FedEx, DHL, and UPS. It has delivered more than a billion kilograms of cargo in the express market, and is celebrating its 35 year anniversary this year.

“The aircraft’s size fills a unique and under-served space in the cargo segment,” says Guy Bridges, Managing Director of Bridges Air Cargo. “It strengthens our operational capability and paves the way for the development of promising new routes.”

The first aircraft is set to be delivered to Bridges in the third quarter of 2025.

With one E-Freighter sold, Embraer secures agreements to make more

Regional One, the lessor that arranged the deal with Bridges Air Cargo, has expanded its partnership with Embraer to add another two E190F conversions to its existing order, doubling its original commitment of two.

Regional One’s Chief Investment Officer George Mamangakis applauded the E-Freighter’s flexibility, efficiency and cost effectiveness, noting that the additional orders will enable it “to better serve the growing demand for efficient, flexible, and sustainable cargo solutions.”

E-Jets converted to freighters will have over 40% more volume capacity, three times the range of large cargo turboprops, and up to 30% lower operating costs than larger narrowbodies. If combining capacity under the floor and main deck, the maximum structural payload is 13,500 kg.
