Alongside the highly anticipated upcoming Egypt International Airshow, a second event from Arabian World Events – the ‘New Space Horizons: Africa and the Middle East conference’ – is set to highlight the country’s innovation into the region’s space sector.

Together, the two events (scheduled to run between 1-5 September 2024) will demonstrate the potential of Egypt’s recently approved 10-year National Space Programme, focusing on boosting capabilities, acquiring space missions and upgrading industry facilities.

“Egypt International Airshow is a fantastic platform to showcase how Egypt is leading space technology in MENA,” highlighted Dr Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency (an official partner of the airshow). “With two launched satellites, a space city, the operationalisation of the African Space Agency in the country, several bilateral advancements in space technology, and other satellite projects in various development stages, Egypt is growing its capacity in the global space economy”.

Two days before the main airshow, as part of its official programme, the ‘New Space Horizons – Africa and the Middle East’ conference will take place in the Cairo’s ‘Space City’, also the headquarters of the African Space Agency. Two large conference areas will host a variety of speakers, with Arabian World Events CEO Thomas Gaunt commenting: “Egypt’s strategic importance as a growing regional space power, make it the ideal host for this pivotal international event”.

Exhibitors will also have a unique opportunity to showcase their products and innovations at Egypt International Airshow itself, which will include insights about Egypt’s latest space missions. These will include information about the Nexsat-1 satellite – launched in February 2024 for remote sensing’ – which marks a “crucial milestone in Egypt’s national space programme dedicated to advancing satellite technology,” explain event organisers.
