French business-jet manufacturer Dassault Aviation has selected Honeywell to equip its Falcon line with JetWave X, its high-speed in-flight connectivity system, available as either a line-fit or retrofit option.

JetWave X is the latest version of Honeywell’s JetWave satcom system (first introduced in 2017), powered by Viasat’s Ka-band network (including ViaSat-3 and Global Xpress geostationary satellites). With the system allowing operators to switch between multiple networks, “JetWave X will enable business jet owners and operators to seamlessly connect to matter where they fly while enjoying the same high-speed connectivity they expect on the ground,” commented Jason Wissink, vice president and general manager of services and connectivity at Honeywell Aerospace technologies.

Dassault’s Honeywell-powered FalconConnect platform currently integrates multiple connectivity options, including 3G/4G, Wi-Fi, and various satellite networks. Honeywell will continueto support its existing JetWave systems, which it says will “see performance improvements under its JetXP plans”.

“Compatibility with future KA-band networks is built into open architecture of JetWave X, making it truly network-agnostic and future-proof,” explained Honeywell. Offering rates of 6 Mbps and speeds capable of up to 40 Mbps, “only JetWave X will be ready to connect to VisSat 3 [entering service in 2025] from day one, providing… consistent uninterrupted connectivity anywhere you fly,” concluded Honeywell.
