Following the US State Department’s approval of the long-awaited possible sale of 50 new-build Boeing F-15IA Advanced Eagles to Israel on 13 August, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced on 7 November that it had signed the contract with manufacturer Boeing the previous day, and was buying the 25 F-15IAs at a cost of US $5.2 billion. The Israeli MoD noted that an option remains to 25 further aircraft.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense confirmed that F-15IA deliveries will begin in 2031, at a rate of between four and six aircraft per year. The original approval included a first delivery date of 2029, and a contract value of up to US $18.82 Billion.

The MoD announcement did not mention the approved plan to upgrade some 25 existing F-15I Ra’am aircraft (Strike Eagles) to almost the same standard, under the designation F-15I+.

The aircraft appear to use the same Advanced Eagle name as Qatari F-15IQs and Saudi F-15SAs, rather than the Eagle II name applied to the USAF’s F-15EX variant.
