UK-based Air Charter Association (ACA) has launched a new sponsored three-month internship programme designed to “further support the next generation of air charter industry professionals and strengthen the pool of young talent within the sector”.

Founded in 1949, the ACA is the leading worldwide trade association for companies and individuals engaged in aircraft charter. With over 400 member companies worldwide representing the entirety of the air charter market, the ACA’s primary focus is on raising and maintaining the highest standards of conduct within the sector, alongside educating the travelling public as to what constitutes a safe and legal charter.

The three-month internship will be available to 18 to 25 year olds and will be comprised of a four-stage project including expert training, hands-on work experience and a completion project. Describing how the initiative will “not only provide a much easier route for the next generation to enter the charter sector,” ACA chairman Kevin Ducksbury added his hopes that the internship initiative will “form the basis of an ongoing yearly programme to get as many people interested in our dynamic and rewarding sector”.

Following four days of classroom training led by ACA experts at a London airport, candidates will take an assessment and receive a certificate upon successful completion. The second stage will also see recipients undertake a one to two week work experience placement at one of ACA’s member companies, with opportunities available across a wide variety of roles. Interns will then be invited to complete a report on a chosen topic of interest within the industry, with the top two rated written reports to receive an award at the Air Charter Excellence Awards this coming November.

Applicants for the 2024 internship programme are invited to apply by 10 June 2024 via the ACA website.
