ADS: Deals announced at Farnborough International Airshow worth £13bn for UK
Deals announced so far at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024 are worth at least £13 billion to the UK, ADS Group (the UK trade association for the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors) has revealed.
As of Thursday evening, the total deals done (estimated by the ADS Group to be worth a total of £81.5 billion) will benefit the UK by about £13 billion; representing the industry’s “confidence, resilience and buoyancy,” explained Aimie Stone, chief economist at ADS.
The 260 firm aircraft orders alone are worth £6.4 billion for the UK, with 808 firm engine orders also wroth at least another £1.2 billion to the UK at current prices.
However, Stone also cautioned that “with demand for aircraft still outpacing the amount we are able to fulfil, it’s clear that the new government [needs to] address the challenges that are currently holding back our sector’s ability to deliver its full potential and impact to our economy,”
