20 Crisalion Integrity aircraft for UrbanLink Air Mobility
December 4, 2024
South Florida-based advanced air mobility company UrbanLink is to purchase 20 Crisalion Integrity eVTOLs, complementing its “fully integrated sustainable transportation network across air, sea, and ground” with specific focus on the Spanish and Italian markets.
Crisalion’s five-passenger, piloted Integrity craft employs a lift-and-cruise configuration powered by its proprietary Flyfree propulsion technology, “capable of controlling the aircraft’s movements in all directions”. 16 motors arranged in in four banks of four (eight on each side of the aircraft) can “independently modify its thrust vector in pitch and roll,” explains Crisalion.
Founder and chairman of UrbanLink Air Mobility Ed Wegel described Crisalion as “one of Europe’s most well-funded and expertly managed eVTOL manufacturers,” adding that the “Integrity’s innovative design, which significantly reduces vibration while optimising range and speed, is truly impressive”.
Having completed one-sixth scale wind tunnel testing, Crisalion intends to debut its first full-scale mockup next year, with certification and entry into service expected by the end of the decade. The Spanish company has so far signed pre-sale agreements for 145 units across continents.
Meanwhile, UrbanLink intends to be “the first independent operator of all electric AAM solutions” and is “poised to make history as the first non-OEM-owned airline in the US to integrate eVTOL aircraft into its fleet”. Aircraft on its orderbook thus far include an firm order for 20 Lilium jets (with options for 20 more) and up to 10 Eviation Alice aircraft.
Subject to Department of Transport and FAA approvals, UrbanLink expects to commence its certification process in late 2025, with entry into revenue service following in summer 2026. Following its launch in South Florida, Wegel has previously alluded to the potential of “additional US and overseas markets”.
