Second A220 flight simulator for airBaltic

Latvian national airline airBaltic is to receive a second A220 full flight simulator later this year to meet its rising demand for pilot training.
“As our fleet and operations grow, so does our commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and excellence in pilot training,” commented airBaltic CEO and president Martin Gauss. With an additional ten aircraft expected by 2025 to augment the carrier’s existing fleet of 48, the additional training capacity will be a useful asset to the airlines.
The new simulator (scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2024) will offer 6,000 hours of availability each year, with an optimal utilization target of 5,500 – 6,000. This will include time for initial and recurrent training as well as provision for technical maintenance.
With only one other full-flight A220 simulator in northern Europe, the addition of a second unit will also allow airBaltic to rent out available slots to other airlines. airBaltic’s own pilot academy is currently host to 136 active students.
