This week, FINN has been taking a look at developments within future flight.

We take a look back at three developments set to transform urban transport – from boosting regional connectivity, using UAM for emergency response to a car which transforms into a plane in just three minutes.

Faradair HQ lands at Duxford

Faradair will be developing its BEHA (Bio Electric Hybrid Aircraft) Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft at the iconic Duxford airfield in Cambridgeshire. The compay relocated its HQ and sustainable aircraft prototype development to the historic airfield last year in a move made in collaboration with the Imperial War Museum (IWM) Duxford and Gonville & Caius College.

Ambular: using UAM to save lives

The Ambular team is a group of engineers working at ICAO who are taking a crowd-thinking approach to saving lives in urban areas.

The team, along with aviation enthusiasts, students and companies are looking at solutions for the development of an urban air vehicle to take on the role of the air ambulance, which can operate in tight urban environments.

Inside the PAL-V Liberty ‘flying sports car’

PAL-V’s Marco van den Bosch gives FINN a guided tour through the PAL-V Liberty, which is going through certification and already has orders in place.

The car will undergo a “three-minute transformation” from a car to an aeroplane and is designed for take off and landing near motorway exits and entrances.
