In the UK pavilion at Farnborough Airshow recently, we caught up with some of the UK’s most innovative companies, large and small, to see their latest products and technology.

The companies included Pattonair – the aerospace and defence supply chain service provider and aircraft part supplier says the outlook at the moment is “fantastic”.

We also spoke to Spaceport Cornwall, which recently signed an MoU with Virgin Orbit, allowing the company to offer satellite launches from a Spaceport at Newquay Airport in Cornwall by 2021, using a modified Boeing 747-400 aircraft called ‘Cosmic Girl’.

Renishaw UK was showcasing the Renishaw Equator 500 and, elsewhere, the UK Space Agency was displaying the Mars rover.

Meanwhile, we heard more about Oxford Space Systems, which is using new materials and even origami-like techniques to advance satellite communications.
