Aircraft asset specialist Vallair is undertaking a comprehensive teardown of an A330 airframe in Châteauroux, France, with the used serviceable material (USM) to be offered for sale by CORAX. The airframe is a 23 year old veteran of Hong Kong Airlines.

With the disassembly already 80% complete, the Danish spare parts component specialist will take delivery of some 1,500 parts, which the Vallair logistics team is currently processing, listing and packaging. CORAX will then asses, repair and ultimately sell the recovered items.

“Realising the value of mature assets relies on fast and efficient disassembly practices that protect each part throughout the inspection and evaluation process,” explained Morten Espenhein, president of CORAX. “We have a commitment to innovation and that means sourcing both narrow and widebody aircraft for teardown and managing the streamlined transition to USM in a cost-effective way”.

Possessing both EASA and FAA approvals, Vallair is one of the founding members of AFRA (the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association), which has now become the global standard for aircraft disassembly and aircraft materials recycling.
