Thai SmartLynx Airlines has earned the Air Operator’s License (AOL) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).

This achievement marks a critical step towards obtaining the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), which the airline aims to secure by early 2025.

As Thailand’s tourism sector rebounds to pre-pandemic levels, with 40 million visitors expected by the end of 2024 and a projected 5.5 million additional arrivals in 2025, the AOL positions Thai SmartLynx to address the growing demand for aircraft capacity under Thailand’s regulatory framework.

Backed by the expertise of Avia Solutions Group and its local partners, Thai SmartLynx is steadily progressing towards AOC approval, underscoring its commitment to enhancing the country’s aviation landscape through innovative ACMI solutions.

Thai SmartLynx’s ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) model provides airlines with a cost-efficient and flexible alternative to owning aircraft.

“Rather than acquiring additional aircraft, which involves significant capital expenditure, Thai SmartLynx offers airlines an alternative through aircraft leasing to ensure financial and operational flexibility during peak seasons and beyond,” said Martynas Grigas, Board of Director of Thai SmartLynx.

“This approach allows airlines to expand their operations dynamically, without the heavy burden of ownership, and provides them with the agility to adapt to changing market conditions.

“Our priority is to support airlines in achieving their operational goals while minimizing financial risk. We understand the aviation industry’s ever-evolving nature, and our ACMI services are designed to offer airlines a solution to stay competitive in such a dynamic environment.”
