Sweden to acquire VIP-configured Global 6500s as the Tp106

May 25, 2025

In Swedish service, the Global 6500 will be designated Tp106. It will offer some commonality and operational synergy with the Swedish Air Force’s new S106 GlobalEye swing role surveillance system aircraft, which are also based on the same Global 6500 aircraft platform.
The first Global 6500 (C-GZVH, c/n 60111) destined for conversion to Spaning 106 (S106) configuration was delivered to Saab Aircraft at Linköping on 25 January 2024. Three aircraft are on order, and Sweden holds an option for a fourth, and these highly specialised aircraft are due to be delivered in 2027.
The VIP-configured Global 6500s will be available rather more quickly, and their delivery is scheduled for November and December 2025. The SEK 1.1 billion (US $115 million) agreement includes initial training for crews and technicians.
These new aircraft will replace the two Gulfstreams that are currently used by the 75 Statsflygskvadronen (75th State Aviation Squadron) for VIP transport. The first Gulfstream G-IVSP (Tp102C 102004) was delivered to Sweden in December 2000 and the G550 (Tp102D 102005) followed in June 2011.
