Saudi Arabia to host multinational ‘Spears of Victory 2025’ exercise
January 25, 2025
The exercise will run from 26 January to 6 February, and will feature participation from 15 countries, underscoring the RSAF’s commitment to strengthening global military collaboration. The Air Warfare Centre was completed in 2021, after US company Tutor Perini was appointed as prime contractor in December 2018 for the US $104 million contract to design and build the new facilities.
Countries contributing aircraft to the exercise include GCC allies Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE, as well as France, Greece, the UK, the USA, and Pakistan. Seven further nations will take part as observers, these being Australia, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Morocco, South Korea, and Spain.
Photos of the arrival of some of the air forces participating in the Spears of Victory 2025 exercise showed Bahraini F-16Cs, Qatari Rafales, Emirati Mirage 2000s (and a C-17 support aircraft), French Rafales (and an A400M support aircraft), Hellenic Air Force F-16Cs (with a C-130H), RAF Typhoons, and USAF F-16Cs from Spangdahlem’s 52nd Fighter Wing.
The manoeuvres implemented by the Air Warfare Centre will focus on addressing current and emerging threats and advancing tactical capabilities. Participating force elements will engage in complex tactical operations that have been designed to accurately simulate threats in an advanced electronic warfare environment.
Air Force Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Omari, the exercise commander, said that the aim was to enhance combat readiness (especially in electronic warfare), to foster the exchange of expertise in planning and implementation, and to unify the concept of joint military action, while promoting joint operational strategies.
