Ninety years ago, Le Bourget airfield was the scene of mass excitement as Charles Lindbergh landed his Spirit of St Louis monoplane after making the first non-stop transatlantic flight between New York and Paris. Jubilant crowds carried the aviator from the cockpit as they celebrated his almost 34 hour, 3,600 mile flight in the single-engine aircraft.
