Lufthansa tackles ‘decline in quality’ at Frankfurt and Munich hubs
December 10, 2024
Lufthansa is taking steps to address operational challenges at its Frankfurt and Munich hubs, which have faced quality issues during recent peak travel periods, the airline said.
From 1 January 2025, Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, will assume responsibility for operations at the Munich hub, while Klaus Froese, chief operations officer and accountable manager, will oversee the Frankfurt hub.
The airline’s new structure introduces dedicated hub managers to enhance operational processes. These changes aim to improve station and cabin management, as well as the coordination and development of ground infrastructure. The focus is on ensuring stable, reliable, and punctual flight operations, especially during busy summer travel seasons.
“In view of the major operational challenges at the hubs in Frankfurt and Munich, which have led to a decline in quality, particularly during the peak periods of recent summers, Lufthansa Airlines is setting up new responsibilities,” the carrier said in a statement.
Lufthansa has said it is committed to working closely with local partners to boost customer satisfaction and enhance the travel experience at its two primary hubs.
The statement added: “The goal is to ensure stable, reliable and punctual flight operations in cooperation between the Lufthansa teams and their respective local partners – even during peak periods in the summer. Smooth and punctual flight operations are essential for increasing customer satisfaction.
“The establishment of the new hub responsibility is intended to contribute to this, and, in particular, to improve the travel experience of Lufthansa passengers at the Group’s two most important airports.”
