KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced the completion of its major cabin upgrade initiative, introducing the new ‘premium comfort class’ across its entire fleet of Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft.

This marks one of the most significant product overhauls in the airline’s recent history. The installation of the new cabinet product has been a two-year endeavour..

Work on the Boeing 787 fleet concluded 18 months ago, with each aircraft taking between four to 16 days to retrofit. Following this, the airline turned its attention to the Boeing 777 fleet, which has now been fully converted. In total, 54 aircraft have been outfitted with the new cabin.

As part of the Boeing 777 conversion project, KLM also took the opportunity to upgrade its World Business Class. The revamped Business Class seats now include sliding doors for added privacy.

Barry ter Voert, KLM’s chief experience officer, said: “Over the past two years, colleagues have worked very hard to make the addition of this new class possible.

“Passengers now have an extra option when booking a ticket, in addition to World Business Class and Economy Class. The first feedback from our passengers has been very positive.

“Passengers specifically mention having more comfort and tastier meals. That exactly matches our intentions.”
