A wide range of unclaimed items, including some unexpected possessions, left behind by passengers have gone up for sale at Brisbane’s Lost Property Auction.
Passengers missing a guitar, sunglasses, camera, purse, jewellery, or their AirPods might want to check out Brisbane Airport’s Lost Property Auction. Some of the more surprising items left behind include a massage table, makeup fridge, a Ninja blender and even an electric drum kit. One wonders whether perhaps some items were deliberately left behind…
With almost 500 unique lots available with no reserve, the auction features a range of items left behind by the 22.6 million passengers who travelled through the terminal over the last year.
“There are items to entertain you, surprise you and even relax you with a full massage table that’s been left behind in our terminal,” said Peter Doherty, Brisbane Airport media & corporate affairs manager. “It’s simply bizarre some of the items left behind by the 60,000 passengers passing through Brisbane Airport each day,” he added. He also explained that the items being auctioned have remained unclaimed well beyond the normal holding period, despite efforts to reunite them with their owners.
The airport is encouraging people to grab a bargain in the lead-up to Christmas with 486 items going under the virtual hammer. In addition to the auctioned items, Brisbane has added special items to the bidding including a behind the scenes tour of the airport, runway signs from the airport’s recent runway upgrade and local sports memorabilia.
Proceeds raised from the annual auction, which will end on 27 October, are donated to young Queenslanders through eCourier-Mail Children’s Fund.
