IndiGo is expanding its wide-body fleet again, signing a fresh agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways to damp lease two more Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, as the Indian carrier accelerates its push into long-haul markets.

The aircraft – the fifth and sixth to be leased from Norse – are due to enter service in early 2026 on routes connecting India to long-haul destinations.

The move continues a series of agreements struck between the two airlines this year.

IndiGo had previously finalised a deal for one 787-9, quickly followed by another agreement for three more. One of those aircraft has already arrived.

Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, commented: “We are pleased to deepen our partnership with Norse Atlantic Airways by signing our third agreement for addition of two more Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

“This move reinforces our commitment to international growth and our customers, promising to introduce more options on long-haul routes. As we accelerate towards our vision of becoming a global airline by 2030, this partnership enables us to bolster our wide-body operations while staying rooted in our India-first approach.”

The lease, which is pending regulatory clearance, is initially set for six months but may be extended for up to 18 months.
