Gulfstream soars: G700 smashes city-pair record on route to Paris Air Show

June 16, 2025

As day one of Paris Air Show opened its doors, Gulfstream announced two new city-pair speed records with the G700 flying the record flights on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Flying from Teterboro, New Jersey to San Francisco, where the 30/70 SAF blend was uplifted ,the G700 travelled 2,272 nm in four hours and 57 minutes at an average speed of Mach 0.91.
The aircraft then continued from San Francisco to Paris, flying 4,947 nm in nine hours and 26 minutes at an average speed of Mach 0.91.

The G700 has more than 80 city-pair speed records to date.
Commenting on the achievement, for which Gulfstream will receive Sustainable Wings accreditation, Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream, said: “These latest record-breaking flights further demonstrate Gulfstream’s industry-leading commitment to sustainability.”
G700 demand is growing
Satisfying demand for high-speed, long-range jets, the ultra large-cabin G700 entered service in April 2024. Since then over 50 of the business jets have already been delivered to customers worldwide.
Equipped with Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and Gulfstream-designed advanced aerodynamic wing and high-speed winglet, the G700 has a range of 77,50nm and can be configured with up to five living areas for up to 19 passengers.
Qatar Executive was the Savannah-based OEMs first international customer and is this year showcasing the business jet on the static.

Gulfstream is also showcasing the jet, alongside the G600, with Burns saying he is looking forward to “showcasing the compelling combination of advanced technology, performance and comfort as increased demand for our next-generation aircraft continues in Europe.”
The spacious cabin featuring the Gulfstream Cabin Experience with 100% fresh air and the industry’s lowest cabin altitude also benefits from natural light flooding the interior from 20 panoramic oval windows.
With certification for the G800 “having gone smoothly,” Gulfstream is now gearing up for the first deliveries of its G800, which are “expected to be announced imminently.”
Marking the end of an era Gulfstream’s final G650 is due to be delivered this summer. As production winds down, the G800 will build on the G650s legacy with even greater range, advanced technology and enhanced efficiency.
300th delivery of G280
With orders ramping up for its larger business jets, Gulfstream’s super-midsize jet, the G280 is also in strong demand with the 300th delivery recently completed at the OEMs Dallas-Fort Worth area facility in Texas.
The milestone delivery is achieved just 13 years after the G280 first entered service in 2012.

“Achieving this milestone reinforces the continued strong demand for the G280,” said Burns. “Known for its unique combination of speed, performance and cabin flexibility, the G280 remains top of the super-midsize class.”
Powered by twin Honeywell HTF7250G engines, the G280 has a range of 3,600nm at its long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.80. It has achieved 87 city-pair speed records to date, while its steep-approach capabilities make it a convenient choice for some of the world’s most challenging airports.
Seating up to 10 with a four-place conference table and featuring Gulfstream’s cabin management and high-definition entertainment systems with high-speed Ka-band satellite systems, the G280 fills the gap between light jets and large cabin aircraft. It also boasts lower operating costs compared to larger Gulfstream jets such as the G550 or G650.
