The Brazilian airline is being supported in the venture with Vibra Energia, the largest fuel distributor in Brazil. “SkyNRG’s extensive experience with the Book and Claim approach simplifies the process, enabling GOL to confidently overcome the complexities of early-stage SAF procurement, and to meet its voluntary goals ahead of future obligations,” says SkyNRG.

The sustainable fuel provider’s Project Runway (launched earlier this month) employs the book and claim system to “not only [allow] airlines access to SAF, but also allows them to share the SAF price premium with ambitious corporates aiming to reduce their own Scope 3 aviation emissions,” explains SkyNRG. Founding project member Microsoft is acting as the initial Scope 3 SAF claims buyer.

A Brazilian SAF mandate (set to take effect in January 2027) will target a reduction of 1% of the airline sector’s total 2026 emissions. This could be gradually increased to 10% by 2037.
